Day 2: Honolulu (B, D)

Today after breakfast, you will board your coach for a full day sightseeing tour of Honolulu, the Pearl Harbor memorial and Diamond Head. The Hawaiian Islands were settled about a thousand years ago by Stone Age Polynesians who were completely unaware of the modern outside world and most likely came from Tahiti crossing the vast Pacific in outrigger canoes. In 1778, Captain Cook accidentally discovered the islands during his quest for a Northwest Passage and named them the Sandwich Islands in honor of the Earl of Sandwich. From then on whalers, adventurers, merchants all arrived to use the islands as pleasure ports. The first to settle were the missionaries who came to convert the “heathens” to Christianity. And the rest, as the saying goes, “is history”.

Today’s tour will take you past the world famous Waikiki Beach, Iolani Palace the only royal Palace on American soil, Chinatown, the Punchbowl, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, and more. Upon arrival at the Pearl Harbor Memorial, you will be given a tour number. As you wait for your tour time, look at the exhibits that surround you. You cannot help by be moved by the pictures you see and the visit to the memorial itself, and the fact that 2,403 people were killed that day.

Then it is on to Diamond Head, the crater of a volcano that has been extinct for 150,000 years. Be prepared to climb the steep trail which includes a trail, 99 steps and 2 tunnels! But the climb is worth it because the view of the tropical shoreline from the top is spectacular. Return to your hotel to freshen up before dinner.

Day 3: Honolulu (B, D)

You begin today with breakfast and then it is off to perform with your band. The remainder of the day will be free for you to make your way to Hanauma Bay for some swimming and snorkeling. Tonight attend a Luau, a Polynesian traditional feast in which a pig and native vegetables are cooked in an underground oven which is formed by heated rocks inside and surrounding the pig. Polynesian entertainment adds flavor to the colorful proceedings.

Day 4: Honolulu (B)

Begin your day with breakfast and then be transferred to the Polynesian Cultural Center. This center with its waterways and a lagoon provides an idyllic setting for the customs, arts, crafts and sports that are the heritage of the South Seas region. Return to your hotel at dinner time. Dinner will be on your own.
