Art and the City

Day 1: Home - New York

This morning, depart on your flight to the “Big Apple”. Upon arrival, enjoy a short panoramic tour of Manhattan. Settle in to your hotel, and expore Times Square at night!

Day 2: New York

Start the day with breakfast and then head off by subway to Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan Island to catch a ferry for the short ride to the Statue of Liberty National Monument. Then board another ferry for Ellis Island which was the nation’s main point of entry into the United States for millions of immigrants from 1892-1924. The remainder of the afternoon is free to make your way to Ground Zero, site of the former World Trade Center and to discover the Financial District. A few blocks west of Ground Zero is the site of the world famous Brooklyn Bridge, South Street Seaport and Chinatown. Free evening.

Day 3: New York (B, D)

After breakfast at a local restaurant you will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the largest and most prestigious art museums in the world. Afterwards, make your way to Rockefeller Center- a city within a city in which one could easily spend a day wandering its complex of 21 buildings. See the NBC Studios Gift Shop and Radio City Music Hall. Next, head to 5th Avenue for an up close look at Trump Tower and St Patricks Cathedral. Tonight, enjoy your first Broadway show.

Day 4: New York (B)

After breakfast this morning you will head to the historic neighborhood of Harlem for a guided walking tour of one of New York's most intriguing neighborhoods rich in culture, political activity, ideas, ideals, religion and people. Following your tour, you will visit the Museum of Modern Art - a world famous museum home to a mixture of 135,000 modern and contemporary paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, architectural models and design objects. This evening, do some shopping at the world's largest department store, Macy's, prior to ascending the Empire State Building and its Observatory for an amazing view of Manhattan. 

Day 5: New York (B, D)

Today you will make your way to the National Academy of Design to participate in lectures and workshops. Enjoy lunch in Central Park and then carry on to southern Manhattan to explore Little Italy, Canal Street, Greenwich Village, and SoHo. Tonight, another Broadway show! 

Day 6: New York (B)

Your day begins with breakfast at a local restaurant before making your way to the United Nations complex. Visitors to the United Nations are escorted by expert guides and experience the chambers of the Security Council, the Trusteeship Council, the Economic and Social Council as well as exhibits, an art collection and finally the General Assembly Hall, the largest and best known room. This afternoon, you may visit the museum of your choice. Some suggestions are the Smithsonian, the American Folk Art Museum, the Guggenheim, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and more! This evening, spend some additional time in vibrant Times Square.

Day 7: New York - Home

This morning a coach will pick you up for your transfer to the airport for the flight home.
