New York on a Shoestring
Day 1: Home - New York
This morning, depart on your flight to the “Big Apple”. Upon arrival, enjoy a short panoramic tour of Manhattan. Settle in to your hotel, and expore Times Square at night!
Day 2: New York (B)
Start the day with breakfast before heading off to some of New York’s sites and Rockefeller Center - a city within a city that one could easily spend a day within its complex of 21 buildings. Visit 5th Avenue, incucling St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the well known Trump Tower. This afternoon, take some time to wander Times Square and enjoy the energetic ambiance of this bustling area of the city. In the evening, visit the Empire State Building and its Observatory with an optional visit to the New York skyride.
Day 3: New York (B)
Today, you will begin with breakfast before heading to your first stop, Lincoln Center. This elegant 4 block cultural world is home to the New York State Theatre, the New York City Opera, the New York City Ballet, and Avery Fisher Hall. This afternoon you visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the largest and most prestigious art museums in the world. In the evening, attend your first Broadway play on the "Great White Way".
Day 4: New York
Start your day with breakfast and then head off by subway to Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan Island to catch a ferry for the short ride to the Statue of Liberty National Monument. Then board another ferry for Ellis Island which was the nation’s main point of entry into the United States for millions of immigrants from 1892-1924. The remainder of the afternoon is free to make your way to Ground Zero, site of the former World Trade Center and to discover the financial district. A few blocks west of Ground Zero is the site of the world famous Brooklyn Bridge and the South Street Seaport. After a long day of touring, the evening is free for you to experience the night life of the “Big Apple” or relax at your hotel.
Day 5: New York (B)
After breakfast this morning, put on your best walking shoes for a day in the trendy neighborhood of Greenwich Village. In the afternoon, head to the United Nations and experience the chambers of the Security Council, the Trusteeship Council, the Economic and Social Council as well as exhibits, an art collection and finally the General Assembly Hall, the largest and best known room. Tonight, you enjoy your second Broadway play.
Day 6: New York (B)
Today after an early breakfast you have a free day to explore on your own. You can shop endlessly if you would like or check out another of New York’s numerous museums. Or you may wish to make your way to Harlem to take an organized walking tour or just wander and shop on your own. Your unlimited use subway pass gives you the freedom to get just about anywhere!
Day 7: New York - Home (B)
Enjoy your last day in the “Big Apple” with breakfast and then board your private coach for your transfer to the airport for your flight home.
